Neoclassicism, Romanticism & Realism: 18/19th Centuries European Art

This series will review the most important European visual arts movements of the 18th and 19th centuries.

Starting with the return to the classical ancient references of the Neoclassicism, the course will continue to discuss the Romantic style that arose sometime later as a reaction to the Industrial Revolution and the aristocratic social and political norms of the Age of Enlightenment.

Finally the survey will conclude discussing the Realism Art movement that while rejecting the Romanticism with its choices and treatment of subject matter pave the way to the free spirited Impressionists to come.
