Starting with Manet, widely regarded as the father of modern western art, the talk and film sessions will further explore The Impressionists who inspired by their free-spirited experimentation practices, motivated new styles and techniques that gradually broke with traditional standards.

Art documentaries by award winning producer Phil Grabsky will provide captivating in-depth looks into the iconic pieces of the artists reviewed while portraying an insightful picture of 19th Century Parisian society, and the culture that spawned this revolutionary work.

Artists featured include Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Pisarro among others.

The Impressionists

This session examines a group of young artists whose experiments with colour and light, beginning in the 1860’s transformed art styles, subjects and techniques that gradually broke with traditional standards and forever changed the way we perceived painting and continue to influence today’s Contemporary Art.

The Impressionists and the man who made film provides a vibrant picture of these Impressionist masters and the art dealer, Paul Durand-Ruel who gave them life to last a time beyond.
